Compatibility Guide
Most gas fireplaces with a wall switch are compatible with Foom. Find your brand and model below, or use the three-step check to figure it out yourself.

Does your fireplace work with Foom? — 3 quick questions

1Does it have a wall switch? Look for a standard rocker or toggle switch that turns the fireplace on and off. If yes, continue to step 2. If it only has a key switch or physical valve knob, Foom is not compatible.

2Are the switch wires low-voltage? Behind the switch plate, the wires should carry no mains power. Measure across the two switch terminals (with the pilot lit but switch open) — a millivolt system will read 250–750 mV DC; an IPI system will read 0–3 V DC. Either is compatible. If you read 24 V AC or higher, Foom is not compatible.

3Is the wall switch wired, not wireless? Some current-generation fireplaces (primarily Majestic Meridian, Echelon, Ruby, Jade; and Valor L1/L2/Portrait/Legend) use a wireless RF wall switch with no wired terminals. These are not compatible without hardware modification.
Ignition system types
What kind of fireplace do you have?
Gas fireplaces use one of a few ignition and control systems. Compatibility with Foom is determined almost entirely by the system type — not the brand.
✓ Millivolt / Standing Pilot
The most common type. A thermopile heated by the standing pilot generates 250–750 mV, which powers the gas valve directly. The wall switch is a simple dry-contact that completes the circuit. Fully compatible — Foom's relay acts as an electronic version of the wall switch.
✓ IPI with dry-contact switch
Intermittent Pilot Ignition systems using a Dexen IntelliFire board, SIT ProFlame 1 or 2, Napoleon Pilot on Demand, or Empire electronic IPI all expose a simple two-wire dry-contact wall switch terminal on the control board. Foom works for on/off control.
✗ IntelliFire Touch (wireless RF)
Used by current-generation Majestic (Meridian, Echelon, Ruby, Jade) and some Vermont Castings models. The wall switch communicates wirelessly — there are no wired low-voltage switch terminals. Incompatible with Foom without hardware modification.
✗ Valor GV60 (Maxitrol 6 V)
Valor's GV60 electronic ignition system puts 6 V DC on the wall switch circuit (rather than a passive dry contact). The wall switch kit (1265WSK) carries powered signal. Incompatible with Foom's relay.
⚠ Check first: IPI variant models
Many brands sell the same model in both millivolt and IPI configurations. Some older lines were millivolt; current versions may have switched to IntelliFire Touch. Always check your model number suffix and verify against this list.

When in doubt, measure first
With the pilot lit and the wall switch open, use a multimeter to measure the voltage across the two switch terminals. If it reads under 3 V DC, Foom is compatible. If it reads 24 V AC or higher, do not install Foom. If it reads around 6 V DC, you likely have a Valor GV60 system — not compatible.
